HAVE YOU HEARD?

Learning about SOUND has never been so much fun !

Pantasia offers assemblies, enrichment sessions, and residencies to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders that are perfect for addressing the South Carolina and National Science Standards for Sound and Sound Production.

Assemblies

Join Professor Pitch and Dr. Decibel in their zany quest to build the Ultimate Sound Machine during our 45 minute presentation, "Adventures in Sound". Students will discover the science behind sound and enjoy a mini performance in the style of the famous percussion troupe, STOMP. Terms including "sound waves", "pitch", "volume", "frequency", "decibel", and "vibration" will be introduced, as well as the anatomy of the human ear. Learn about famous sound inventions like Morse Code, the telephone, and phonograph. Fast paced and comical with LOTS of audience participation!

Enrichment Session & Residencies

Immediately following the assembly, Professor Pitch and Dr. Decible bring the excitement of Sound into your classrooms. Students create their own musical instrument and make choices for its final sound. Activities involve math by the use of measuring, predictions, graphs, and geometry. Residencies are 1-4 days of core group instruction plus one day of school assemblies for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Teachers can customize the focus of their residency instruction by choosing from several different activities: students can create their own instruments, conduct science experiments, and create their own communication device. Students will learn the SC and National Standards for Sound and Sound Production through lecture, demonstration, group work, and hands-on activities.
